As Grids are emerging as the next generation service-oriented computing platforms, they need to support Grid economy that helps in the management of supply and demand for resources and offers an economic incentive for Grid resource providers. To enable this Grid economy, a market-like Grid environment including an infrastructure that supports the publication of services and their discovery is n...

Grids aim at exploiting synergies that result from the cooperation of autonomous distributed entities. The synergies that result fromGrid cooperation include the sharing, exchange, selection, and aggregation of geographically distributed resources such as computers, databases, software, and scientific instruments for solving large-scale problems in science, engineering, and commerce. For this c...
متن کاملAdapting Grid Services for Urgent Computing Environments
Emerging urgent computing tools can quickly allocate computational resources for the execution of time critical jobs. Grid applications and workflows often use Grid services and service-oriented architectures. Currently, urgent computing tools cannot allocate or manage Grid services. In this paper, we evaluate a service-oriented approach to Grid service access and provisioning for urgent comput...
متن کاملPeer-to-Peer Grid Computing and a .NET-based Alchemi Framework
Computational grids that couple geographically distributed resources are becoming the de-facto computing platform for solving large-scale problems in science, engineering, and commerce. Software to enable grid computing has been primarily written for Unix-class operating systems, thus severely limiting the ability to effectively utilize the computing resources of the vast majority of Windows-ba...

Quality of Service (QoS) is one of the most important and active research topics within Grid technology. But the emerging transformation from a product oriented economy to a service oriented economy establishes a new scenario where actual QoS mechanisms need to be enforced and new QoS mechanisms needed. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are considered the cornerstone born to fulfill those require...
